Adobo Chicken with Ginger recipe.

Ingredients
1 (3 pound) whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
1/2 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1 bulb garlic, peeled and crushed
2 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh ginger root
2 bay leaves
1/2 tablespoon black peppercorns

Directions
Combine the chicken, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger, bay leaves and peppercorns in a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once it boils, reduce heat to a simmer. Cover the pot and simmer for 30 minutes, basting the chicken occasionally. After 30 minutes, remove lid and cook until liquid has reduced to half.
Remove chicken from the pot to a serving plate. Strain the liquid from the pot to remove all the food particles, and set aside. Serve chicken hot over steamed rice and drizzle with reserved sauce.

Broccoli with Roasted Red Peppers recipe.

Ingredients
5 cups broccoli florets
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup diced roasted red pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions
Place broccoli in a steamer basket. Place in a saucepan over 1 in. of water; bring to a boil. Cover and steam for 5-8 minutes or until crisp-tender.
Meanwhile, in a nonstick skillet, saute garlic in butter. stir in the red peppers, parsley, salt and pepper. Transfer broccoli to a large bowl; add red pepper mixture and toss to coat.

Black Forest Dump Cake II recipe.

Ingredients
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 (16.5 ounce) can pitted dark sweet cherries
1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup butter, cut into pieces

Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Spray 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
Dump cherry pie filling into dish and spread evenly. Repeat with cherries, including juice. Sprinkle cake mix over the top - DO NOT STIR. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Distribute butter pieces evenly over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Apple Dapple Cake recipe.

Ingredients
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups diced apple without peel
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup brown sugar (optional)
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk

Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour one 10 inch tube pan.
Combine oil, butter or margarine, and sugar together. Beat well with a mixer. Add eggs, flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla; mix well. Stir in apples, coconut, raisins, and walnuts. Pour batter in prepared pan.
Bake for 90 minutes. Remove cake from oven. Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes, and then remove from pan.
If desired, make glaze. In a small saucepan, heat brown sugar, butter or margarine, and milk. Bring mixture to boil, and stir for 1 minute. Pour over warm cake.

Brown Sugar Cake recipe.

Ingredients
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
CREAMY NUT FILLING:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons light corn syrup

Directions
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars. Beat in the egg, egg yolk and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Beat well. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into a greased and waxed paper-lined 9-in. round baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
Meanwhile, for filling, combine brown sugar and flour in a small saucepan; stir in milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 3 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the hear; stir in nuts, butter and vanilla; cool completely.
Cut cake widthwise in half. Place one layer on a serving plate. Spread with filling; top with other layer. In a microwave or small saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter with corn syrup, stirring until smooth. Cool slightly and drizzle over top of cake.

Authentic Thousand Island Dressing recipe.

Ingredients
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 pinch ground cloves
1 quart mayonnaise
3/4 cup sweet pickle relish
1/2 cup chopped black olives
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper

Directions
Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the chopped eggs, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, vinegar, cloves, mayonnaise, relish, olives and red pepper until evenly blended. Chill and serve spooned over fresh greens. Store in the refrigerator.

Baked Zucchini Squares recipe.

Ingredients
1 cup biscuit/baking mix
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 small onion, chopped
3 medium zucchini, thinly sliced

Directions
In a bowl, combine the biscuit mix, Parmesan cheese, parsley, oregano, basil and salt. Combine eggs, oil and onion; stir into dry ingredients just until combined. Stir in zucchini. Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and set. Cut into squares.

Bishop's Bread I recipe.

Ingredients
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup candied cherries
1/2 cup currants
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Beat egg in mixing bowl until frothy. Add sugar, oil, and vanilla. Beat to blend. Mix in buttermilk.
In another bowl measure the flour, soda, and salt. Stir to mix well. Add walnuts, cherries, raisins, and chips. Mix together. Add all at once to liquid batter. Stir only until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour or until bread tests done. Let bread stand for 10 minutes then remove from pan and let cool on a rack.

Bacon Wrapped Bratwurst recipe.

Ingredients
4 bratwurst
3 (12 ounce) cans light beer
5 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 slices bacon, cut in half

Directions
Poke bratwurst several times with a small fork, and place into a saucepan with the beer. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove the bratwurst from the beer, and allow to cool to room temperature.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and place a wire rack on top.
Toss the brown sugar and cayenne pepper together in a large bowl and set aside. Cut each bratwurst into three pieces, wrap each piece with half strip of bacon, and secure with a toothpick. Toss the bratwurst with the cayenne mixture to coat, then place onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven until the bacon is brown and crisp, 25 to 35 minutes.

Butternut Squash Soup II recipe.

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 medium carrot, chopped
2 medium potatoes, cubed
1 medium butternut squash - peeled, seeded, and cubed
1 (32 fluid ounce) container chicken stock
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions
Melt the butter in a large pot, and cook the onion, celery, carrot, potatoes, and squash 5 minutes, or until lightly browned. Pour in enough of the chicken stock to cover vegetables. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover pot, and simmer 40 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender.
Transfer the soup to a blender, and blend until smooth. Return to pot, and mix in any remaining stock to attain desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper.

Brown Butter Cookies recipe.

Ingredients
2 cups butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup chopped pecans
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup hot water

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Heat butter over medium heat for 5 minutes or so, until it turns nut brown in color. The foaming and bubbling is part of the browning process, but watch it carefully so that you don't burn the butter. Remove from heat, and cool slightly. Reserve 1/2 cup of the butter for the frosting.
Pour remaining browned butter into a large mixing bowl. Beat browned butter with brown sugar until the butter is no longer hot. Mix in eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat thoroughly. Mix in flour and chopped pecans. Drop tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until light brown around the edges. Cool.
In a medium bowl, mix the reserved 1/2 cup browned butter with 2 teaspoons vanilla, confectioners' sugar, and hot water. Beat until smooth, and use to frost cooled cookies.

Best No-Bake Cheesecake recipe.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 pint heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup white sugar
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Directions
In a small bowl, stir together the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and cinnamon. Add melted butter and mix well. Press into the bottom of an 8 or 10 inch springform pan. Chill until firm.
In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and lemon juice until soft. Add whipping cream and beat with an electric mixer until batter becomes thick. Add the sugar and continue to beat until stiff. Pour into chilled crust, and top with pie filling. Chill several hours or overnight. Just before serving, remove the sides of the springform pan.

Ingredients
1 (16 ounce) can black beans
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
salt to taste

Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine beans, onion, and garlic, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Season with cilantro, cayenne, and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes, and serve.

Blackened Chicken recipe.

Ingredients
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet. Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat for 5 minutes until it is smoking hot.
Mix together the paprika, salt, cayenne, cumin, thyme, white pepper, and onion powder. Oil the chicken breasts with cooking spray on both sides, then coat the chicken breasts evenly with the spice mixture.
Place the chicken in the hot pan, and cook for 1 minute. Turn, and cook 1 minute on other side. Place the breasts on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 5 minutes.

Aunt Mary's Chocolate Cake recipe.

Ingredients
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup water
2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 cup sour milk

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate, margarine and water until melted. Stir occasionally until chocolate is smooth. Allow to cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, salt and soda. Pour in milk and eggs. Mix the cooled chocolate mixture into the batter. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Frost with Best Buttercream Frosting.

Butter Cookies IV recipe.

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
1 cup butter
3 tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 ounces colored candy sprinkles

Directions
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the egg, cream and vanilla extract. Blend thoroughly (this usually works best with your hands).
Form dough into a flattened ball, wrap and refrigerate for at least 24 hours. This mixture can keep for several days.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
Roll dough out on a floured board to about 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick. Cut out shapes with a cookie cutter and decorate with different types of sprinkles.
Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 5 to 8 minutes.

Bistec Encebollao recipe.

Ingredients
2 pounds beef sirloin steak, sliced thinly across the grain
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 pinch dried oregano
1 (.18 ounce) packet sazon seasoning
2 large white onions, sliced into rings
1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup beef stock
1 teaspoon salt

Directions
In a large resealable bag, combine the steak, olive oil, garlic, oregano, sazon seasoning, onions, vinegar, beef stock, and salt. Seal and shake to mix. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or up to a couple of days.
When you are ready to cook, dump the entire contents of the bag into a large deep skillet. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until the beef is fork tender, about 40 minutes.

Beefy Mushroom Barley Soup recipe.

Ingredients
1 pound cubed beef stew meat
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups water
2 tablespoons margarine
2 large carrots, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
6 cups water
3 cubes beef bouillon cube
1/4 cup pearl barley
1/4 cup sour cream

Directions
Brown small cubes of stew meat in vegetable oil over medium heat until juices become a rich brown color. Add 2 cups water, and simmer meat while preparing the vegetables.
In a large soup pot, melt butter or margarine over medium heat. Saute carrots, onion, garlic, celery, and mushrooms.
Add meat, 6 cups water, bouillon cubes, and barley to vegetable mixture. Cook until barley is soft. Adjust liquid and seasoning as desired. Remove from heat, and stir in sour cream. Serve immediately.

Blushing Peach Pie recipe.

Ingredients
1 Pastry for double-crust pie (9 inches)
6 cups sliced peeled fresh peaches
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 dash ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons red-hot candies
2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Directions
Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom pastry; trim even with edge of plate. Set aside.
In a bowl, toss the peaches with lemon juice. Combine the sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg; add to peaches and toss to combine. Pour into crust. Sprinkle with red-hots; dot with butter. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Place over filling. Trim, seal and flute edges. Cut slits in top. Cover edges loosely with foil. Bake at 425 degrees F for 25 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F; remove foil and bake 20 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on a wire rack.

All-Bran Blueberry Peach Crumble recipe.

Ingredients
1 cup All-Bran Buds* cereal singles
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons margarine, melted
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (10.5 ounce) package frozen blueberries
1 (28 ounce) can sliced peaches, drained

Directions
In food processor, process cereal, flour, 50 ml (1/4 cup) of the brown sugar and margarine just until moistened and crumbly. Set aside for topping.
In small bowl, mix remaining sugar, cornstarch, lemon rind and cinnamon. Stir into berries. Spread mixture evenly in 2 L (8-cup) shallow baking dish. Top with sliced peaches. Sprinkle evenly with reserved topping.
Bake at 180 degrees C (350 degrees F) 30 minutes or until topping is browned and fruit is bubbly. Serve warm.

Blueberry Spread recipe.

Ingredients
2 cups fresh blueberries
3/4 cup water, divided
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
3 tablespoons white sugar

Directions
In a heavy saucepan over medium-high heat, combine blueberries, 1/2 cup water and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently for about 8 minutes, stirring frequently.
Meanwhile, soak gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water.
Remove blueberries from heat and stir in gelatin and sugar. Pour into hot, sterilized jars and seal. Cool and store in the refrigerator.

A Hearty Green Bean and Sausage Casserole recipe.

Ingredients
1 (16 ounce) package pork sausage
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
ground black pepper to taste
2 (16 ounce) packages frozen cut green beans
1 (2.8 ounce) can French-fried onions

Directions
Crumble the pork sausage into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain grease, and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic, and pepper. Mix in the sausage, then add the green beans, and stir until evenly coated. Pour half of the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the fried onions. Spread remaining green bean mixture over the onions.
Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from the oven, and sprinkle the rest of the fried onions over the top. Return to the oven for 5 to 10 more minutes, or until the onions are toasty, and green beans are cooked to your desired doneness. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Apple-Glazed Pork Chops recipe.

Ingredients
4 (3/4 inch) thick bone-in pork chops
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup apple cider or apple juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar, divided
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon cold water
2 large tart apples, sliced
1/2 cup sliced onion
2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Directions
In a large skillet, brown pork chops in oil. Add the cider, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, salt, rosemary and thyme. Cover and cook for 7-8 minutes or until meat juices run clear. Combine the cornstarch and water until smooth; add to the skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.
Meanwhile, in another skillet, cook the apples, onion, butter and remaining brown sugar over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until apples are softened. Serve over pork chops.
